The AW 2017-2018 collection by Chiglo renews its love for the wonderful island of Sardinia – homeland to Chiara and Gloria, the two young designers and creators of the brand – through a perfect union of tradition and modernity. Each garment is, as a matter of fact, a “sartorial piece” which reinterprets Sardinian culture and folklore in a contemporary manner: the details, the embroideries and the colors which tell about the elegance of Sardinian women are the absolute protagonists of a brand with a strong identity. Starting with the fringes and the refined floral embroideries of the typical island shawl, which become original motifs on the iconic Chiglo sweatshirt.
Chiglo is a small wardrobe of pieces with a “tailor made” flavor, designed for a highly dynamic woman who lives in the present. A cosmopolitan woman, seduced by the charm of traveling: indeed, the AW 2017-18 represents a dual tribute to Sardinia and South America, especially to the uncontaminated beauty of Ecuador. A fascinating union of the Sardinian and the South American cultures which inspire precious materials – wools, silks, velvets -, colors and lines in the collection. In this collection, highly original details blend together and embellish pieces with a fresh design, like the pants paired with the velvet skirt, the heavy cotton sleeveless top with its masculine mood but refined by the floral pattern of the lining, the silver jewel buttons of the traditional Sardinian shirts. The jackets are structured and underlined by patches and floral embroideries. The sweatshirts, a Chiglo symbol, are enhanced through a new pattern which recalls the traditional “Pibiones” weaving, in the “grappolo d’uva” (grapes) style. The color palette is natural, warm and refined – black, ivory, ochre, light blue, burgundy – and can also be found in the new knitwear line.
The AI 2017-18 Chiglo collection is a small wardrobe of wonders, made of unique and original creations in which present and past blend together and reveal all the love for research and attention to detail. A love inspired by world traditions and, first of all, by a culture as ancient and deep as the wonderful sea of Sardinia.
